General Recommendations
The guidelines below are general recommendations, for specific recommendations and best results refer to a recent soil test.
McGeary Organics 8-1-1 was formulated with side-dress nitrogen applications in mind, but can be used in any circumstance where a nitrogen deficiency needs to be rectified. 8-1-1 is also a good choice for fields that have been over manured and have excessive phosphorus and potassium levels. The fertilizer is composed of l nitrogen rich ingredients, a large portion of which are rapidly available. The guidelines below are general recommendations. For specific recommendations and best results refer to a recent soil test.
Yard & Garden
For spring lawn applications use 12 lbs per 1000 ft2.
For vegetables and fruits see the McGeary Organics Fertilizer Application Guide for Vegetables and Fruits. Recommendations range from 2 to 6 lb per 100 ft2 depending on the crop grown.
Farm
For corn use 70 lb of 8-1-1 per 25 bushels of expected yield. This should be adjusted based on manure applications and existing soil nutrients as determined by soil testing. Side dress applications should be based on a pre side-dress nitrate test.
For winter small grains fertilize with a balanced fertilizer at planting, and then apply 100-300 lbs of McGeary Organics 8-1-1 per acre in late February-early March .
